Troubleshooting common DentalCare installation issues

Resolve missing style.css, destination-folder, upload-limit, activation, bundled-plugin, and unstyled-site installation problems.

Most DentalCare installation failures come from the wrong ZIP file, server limits, an existing theme folder, or required plugins that were not activated. Start with the exact error shown by WordPress. Do not keep retrying the same upload without changing the cause.

Start with the exact error message#

Copy the full message shown by WordPress and note whether it appeared while uploading the theme, activating it, or installing plugins. Those are separate stages and usually have different causes.

  • Confirm the file name you uploaded.
  • Check whether the failure happened during upload, installation, activation, or plugin setup.
  • Record your WordPress, PHP, and DentalCare version numbers.
  • Take a screenshot before dismissing the notice.

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet#

This usually means the full ThemeForest download package was uploaded instead of the installable theme ZIP.

  1. Extract the main download package on your computer.
  2. Locate dental-care.zip.
  3. In WordPress, go to AppearanceThemesAdd ThemeUpload Theme.
  4. Upload dental-care.zip, not the outer package or any local Documentation.zip that may be included.

This does not normally mean the theme is corrupt#

WordPress is reporting that the ZIP you selected is not an installable theme archive. Choosing the correct inner ZIP usually resolves it.

Destination folder already exists#

A folder named dental-care is already present in wp-content/themes/. This can happen after a failed installation or when the theme is already installed.

  • If you are updating DentalCare, use the update procedure and choose Replace current with uploaded.
  • If the existing installation is incomplete, back it up, remove the damaged folder, then upload the theme again.
  • Do not rename the new theme folder to create a second active copy. That can split settings and confuse updates.

The uploaded file exceeds the server limit#

Your hosting account is blocking the ZIP before WordPress can install it. The theme itself is not necessarily the problem.

  • Ask your host to raise upload_max_filesize and post_max_size.
  • Use your host's file manager or FTP to upload the extracted dental-care folder into wp-content/themes/.
  • Confirm the uploaded folder contains style.css and functions.php directly inside it, not inside another nested dental-care folder.

WordPress reports an invalid or incompatible package#

Download a fresh copy from the original purchase source and extract it again. Partial downloads, renamed archives, or files modified by an archive tool can fail validation.

  • If local documentation or a compatible dental-care-child.zip is included, do not upload either as the parent theme.
  • Do not manually add files to the installable ZIP.
  • Confirm your server meets the PHP and WordPress requirements listed for the release.

The theme installs but activation causes a critical error#

Activation errors usually need the PHP error log. Common causes include unsupported PHP versions, incomplete uploads, outdated required plugins, or custom code running from a child theme.

  1. Enable or retrieve the server PHP error log.
  2. Temporarily activate a default WordPress theme if the dashboard remains accessible.
  3. Confirm the DentalCare folder uploaded completely.
  4. Temporarily disable custom snippets and child-theme code.
  5. Update or reinstall the required DentalCare plugins.

Do not troubleshoot a critical error by randomly deleting files#

The first useful PHP error line usually identifies the file and function involved. Preserve that evidence before changing the installation.

DentalCare activates, but widgets or content menus are missing#

The required companion plugins may be inactive or were skipped after theme activation.

  1. Go to AppearanceInstall Plugins.
  2. Install every plugin marked as required.
  3. Activate the installed plugins.
  4. Reload the dashboard and check Services, Projects, Team, and theme settings again. If Elementor is installed and used on the site, check its editor as well.

Installing a plugin is not the same as activating it. A plugin can appear in the list while its features remain unavailable.

The site loads without styling or looks broken#

Confirm the theme and required plugins are active before treating the problem as a cache issue.

  • Open the browser developer tools and look for missing CSS or JavaScript files.
  • Regenerate Elementor CSS and data if Elementor provides that tool in your installed version.
  • Check file permissions and confirm the theme assets uploaded completely.
  • Clear only the relevant cache after the source and asset requests are correct.

A bundled plugin will not install or activate#

Confirm that the theme installation completed first. Then retry through AppearanceInstall Plugins.

  • Remove any incomplete copy of the same plugin before reinstalling it.
  • Check server upload limits and file permissions.
  • Read the exact activation error and inspect the PHP log if WordPress shows a critical error.
  • Do not install another plugin with the same purpose until the conflict is understood.

Success state#

  • DentalCare appears under AppearanceThemes and activates normally.
  • All required plugins are installed and active.
  • If Elementor is installed and used on the site, its editor loads without a critical error.
  • DentalCare widgets and reusable content menus are visible.
  • The frontend loads its CSS, JavaScript, images, header, and footer correctly.

Support escalation#

If the issue remains, send the exact error text, a screenshot, the uploaded ZIP file name, DentalCare version, WordPress version, PHP version, active theme name, active plugin list, and the relevant PHP error-log entry. Explain the last successful step. Do not send passwords in the first message.
